Hello, my name is Lisa Mealey. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Pittsburgh. I will be graduating in December and am required prior to graduation to develop and present an original research paper. Having been an elite level gymnast and recently retiring from the sport after an eighteen-year career, I have a great desire and passion to stay involved in the field of sport and athletic conditioning. Therefore, I wish to pursue fitness competitors for the focus of my research paper. The paper will give a detailed description of the characteristics of a fitness competitor with regards to training and nutrition.

I would greatly appreciate if you could assist me in this academic endeavor by divulging the aspects and details of your training program and nutritional plan through a questionnaire I have constructed. The information I receive will remain completely confidential and will not be shared with any individual outside the University of Pittsburgh’s masters program. Your information will be coded as a number and your name will not be used. All information will be used for the sole purpose of broadening my knowledge on the training and preparation an elite fitness competitor faces in order to reach an optimal level of fitness. This project will not be published and will serve as pilot data for future investigations.

Please reply to this post if you are willing to complete the questionnaire. Your assitance would be greatly appreciated. The questionnaire could not be attached, so if interested please provide an email address I can forward the questionnaire to. The more detailed and accurate information you can provide, the more I can learn about, understand, and appreciate the growing field of fitness competing. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this questionnaire for the information you provide will be extremely useful, beneficial, and valuable to the success of my research paper. If you have any questions feel free to contact me via email at lmealey2@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,
Lisa Mealey
