Nova Fitness Competition Gets a Platform at the Strongman Viking Challenge
While the Strongman competitors were busy with their lugging, tossing, flipping and dragging of Hummers, tires, and kegs, the pretty competitors from both the Fitness South Beach Pageant and visiting Nova Fitness competitors, along with Nova Fitness Owner, Kim Hill, even got in on the action.
The
Nova girls assisted with Sunday’s Platform Squat event at the Viking
Challenge. Each girl was asked her
weight and this was calculated in to the overall lift for the Strongman. As each Strongman was able to make the
necessary lift, the weight for the platform was increased. A new Nova girl was added along with plates
on each side of the lift. It was a
great opportunity for Kim Hill, co-founder
of Nova Fitness Federation, to showcase her own fitness event, The 2003 Nova
Fitness Federation Series. While Hill was being interviewed by Fox
Sports, her wide-eyed Nova competitors were in the background, nervously
perched on the platform as the Strongmen heaved the weight up and down.
The
pride of Germany, Ollesch Heinz
won this round by squatting a 1,015 lbs of weight!!

Strongmen from all over the globe meet to compete at the Festival.
Basic Media Productions, Fox Sports and ESPN closely monitored the GNC Pro Performance/Supro X-TREME STRONGMAN Qualifier & Viking Challenge.
The Strongmen’s unearthly ability to push, pull and shove huge items proved to be one of the most popular attractions at the Festival, especially for the many kids in attendance. The Strongmen clearly were quite the contrast to the buff and lean Fitness Pageant, Figure and Muscle Mania competitors found on the Festival’s main stage. In comparison, the strongmen looked like they had enjoyed a good meal (or three). They were also down-to-earth, friendly, and eager to please their fans.
Fireman Phil Pfister from the U.S. won the Overall X-TREME STRONGMAN Qualifier.
Fox Sports will air the Miami competitions on July 28, 2003. Check your local listings for time slots.
